Leo likes all people as well as pets, as well as he particularly likes kids.
A great deal of the times they don’t like him, which makes him like them even more.
Leo’s very first encounter with youngsters was when he was about 10 weeks old. He satisfied my
then 7-year-old nephew, 5-year-old niece as well as 9-week-old nephew/godson. Since
Leo was a baby, we understood it was crucial to make sure that my older nephew and
niece were gentle with Leo.  As he grew,
my niece particularly grew terrified of him since he was so excitable. We were no
longer anxious about them being gentle with Leo. We had to show them to be
calm around Leo. If Leo moved in the tiniest when my niece tried to pet him,
she would shriek as well as run away, triggering Leo to chase after her since to him it
was all a game. I believe it was a game for her as well since when Leo would stop
running, she would stop up until he began chasing her again.

Watching Leo interact with youngsters is amusing. On walks or at
the pet dog park, youngsters that are clearly comfortable with big dogs will ask to pet
him as well as he gleefully welcomes the attention. When timid kids come up and
ask to pet Leo, he gets so excited. He need to sense their concern or nervousness and
think it indicates they are ecstatic which only excites him more. When I notice this
is happening, I get hold of Leo’s head, begin scratching his ears, as well as tell the youngster to
pet his back. If I don’t, then I understand Leo is going to try as well as lick the kid’s
face which would frighten them even more.

I don’t mind if youngsters come as much as pet Leo without asking
because I understand he wouldn’t hurt them, particularly now as he’s calmed down a bit
and understands not to jump up. However, it’s so crucial to show youngsters to ask
before petting a pet dog since not all dogs are friendly. even if they are
friendly, some dogs may not welcome interest as eagerly as others.
