2 Year blog Anniversary: holy Cow, Is This For Real?
Apparently most blogs don’t make it through the very first year. So exactly how in the world did Puppy Leaks handle to make it 2 years?
Well I don’t believe I’d still be right here if I’d kept on my original plan of just publishing dog news. sure dog news has a location in this world, however it wasn’t my passion.
I’ve turned Puppy Leaks into a location where I can let everything out. I try to notify & inspire. Does that always work? No, however damnit I try.
To celebrate 2 years of blogging here’s a few lessons, highlights & many thanks.

3 blogging lessons Learned
Just to be remove I don’t like providing directly out blogging advice per se. There’s a crap tons of “how to blog much better blogs” available if you’re so inclined. These are just 3 tips that have helped me in my bit part of the dog blog world.
Don’t Be afraid to speak Your Mind
After composing some more viewpoint pieces I realized something: it feels damn great to just let everything out. Whether it’s about the rescue vs breeder debate, the “ethics” of PETA, or exactly how we judge our own dogs past.
Not everybody will agree with you, however being able to speak freely about problems is what makes blogging so powerful.
I checked out a great deal of opinionated blogs, even the ones I don’t agree with. They’re passionate about their topic & that makes me come back for more. regardless of exactly how I feel about the subject I always walk away with a different perspective, as well as that’s what keeps my motivation going.
Stop publishing just to Publish
When I started this blog I was syndicating dog news, so 7+ posts a week was quite simple to achieve. however after awhile I realized I didn’t have a great deal of enthusiasm for the stories I was writing. I was just regurgitating news that had already been published elsewhere.
Once I started composing some more informational articles I discovered my wonderful spot. I enjoy the research study process, as well as I like being able to put my own point of view on dog issues.
Today before I publish a publish I ask myself: will this entertain, notify or influence others? if not I don’t bother as well as wait up until I have something I’m proud to publish.
Get active on Pinterest
Pinterest is my my preferred social media network & it continues to bring in more web traffic than any type of of the other networks.
My preferred thing about Pinterest is exactly how much interest posts get long after their original publish date. Unlike other networks posts can continue to bring in web traffic for months (possibly years) to come.
It does take awhile to gain traction there. My finest tip is to produce some fantastic vertical pictures (730 x 1200 or so) for your preferred posts with a benefit driven headline. You can take any type of of your huge listing articles or exactly how to posts as well as turn them into a “Pinworthy” picture & headline.
If you’re looking for a simple method to produce pictures I suggest utilizing Canva. It’s free (some choices expense $1), simple to use, as well as includes a great deal of fantastic templates to try out.
I get 1000+ visitors a day from Pinterest. 33 simple methods to keep Your dog hectic inside your home is my finest performing Pin with over 80,ooo repins. I credit history that to the headline & this huge vertical image:
A benefit driven headline + vertical picture can do wonders on Pinterest.
I understand getting started with Pinterest sucks. It takes a great deal of effort & some luck to begin gaining traction, however when you do it’s well worth it.
One of my the things I did to get started was produce some specific dog associated boards. I made one for dog treats, diy dog toys, dog training & one just called “funny dogs” for memes & jokes.
I filled those boards with fantastic Pins from other people (ones that were already prominent as well) as well as that’s exactly how I started choosing up a great deal of new followers.
When it comes to having your own Pins go viral well a few of it’s just luck. I’ve produced Pins that I believed would do well & go nowhere, as well as others took off by surprise. The ones that do truly bad? I delete them & try once again with a new image/headline combo.
It’s a great deal of work, however the web traffic is awesome.
